The upper eyelid surgery incision is hidden in the natural creases above the eyelids. One fine stitch is used to close the incision which will be removed subsequently.
The recovery from this procedure is minimal, stitches are removed in 5-6 days and the patient can resume normal activity within one week.
Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

The lower eyelid lift can be very effective at targeting the signs of tiredness and aging from the eyes by removing the excess fat and wrinkly skin. The latest advances in Blepharoplasty or eyelid rejuvenation involve conservative removal of herniated fat and skin with Co2 Laser resurfacing of the wrinkly skin. Most importantly Dr. Roham believes in replenishment of the lost volume around the eyes using your own body fat or dermal fillers (Restylane, Juvederm). This combined approach for lower eyelid surgery that is used by Dr. Roham tends to avoid the operated look and create a very natural youthful almond shape to the eye. Dr. Roham's goal in eyelid surgery is to create a more youthful look and not a tight and operated one.
For lower lids, we also use local anesthesia or I.V sedation with the procedure taking typically between 1-2 hours. In lower eyelid surgery, the bulging fatty tissue is removed through a transconjunctival approach which means that the surgery is performed through the inside part of the eyelid so that no external visible scar is created. Then the skin is tightened using the CO2 laser resurfacing.

If Dr. Roham finds that the patient has significant amount of skin drooping, then he might elect to perform the procedure through a transcutaneous approach which means that the incision is made in a crease about 1mm underneath the lash line so that it can be completely hidden and camuflaged. The excess fat and skin can be removed through the incision and a tiny absorbable stitch is placed to close the incision. Recovery is generally between 5-6 days.
Non surgical eye rejuvenation or Volume replacement
This is a minimally invasive procedure that improves dark cirles, small lower lid bags, and hollows around the eyes without surgery. This procedure can be done either with your own body's fat or by using synthetic dermal fillers (such as Restylane, Juvederm).
Fat is better for people that have thin skin or need a lot of volume and is performed by removing fat using a needle under local anesthesia or I.V sedation from an undesired location and replacing it back into face and around the eyes to recreate a smooth, natural and rejuvenated look.
Another option are synthetic dermal fillers, better suited for younger patients with thicker skin. Restylane and Juvederm are used to fill around the bags and in the hollow areas to create a smooth look from the eyes down to the cheeks
