Co2 Laser skin Resurfacing Is the gold standard in treatment of sun damaged skin and wrinkles.

This treatment has been largely abandoned for Active FX or fractional Co2 laser treatment due to long down time and persistent rednedd and higher chances of scarring. The new Active FX CO2 Laser or fractional Co2 treatment leaves small "bridges" of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing time much faster and allows you to get back to your busy and active lifestyle sooner. You will enjoy firmer skin as the result of increased new collagen.

Active FX CO2 Laser is typically a one-time procedure for resurfacing and smoothing the skin. Active FX also improves fine lines and wrinkles, discoloration, rough skin texture, poor tone and skin laxity. Active FX CO2 Laser is the treatment of choice for age-related deep lines, hard-to-erase lip lines, sun damage and sagging face and neck skin. By treating skin with microscopic laser columns instead of full surface tissue removal, patients can receive the benefits of the latest advances in laser technology - without the lengthy downtime and recovery.

Deep Fx Co2 Laser treatment is also used in a fractional form to treat deep lines, wrinkles and scarring.

Total FX CO2 Laser Treatment is a combination of the active FX and Deep Fx in a patient that has both surface textural changes of aging such as fine lines rough skin and poor tone and discoloration as well as deep lines and wrinkles or scars.
Max FX CO2 Laser is indicated for those patients who wish to have more aggressive procedures for their scarring issues or very deep wrinkles. This procedure has down time and results comparable with the traditional CO2 laser treatments.

Your CO2 Laser Resurfacing treatment will be performed in a surgical suite within our office. Dr. Roham can provide the treatment levels which have been established to give the best results - without the anxiety and associated discomfort. You will be twilight asleep during the short procedure. You will need to have someone available to drive you home following your Active FX CO2 Laser procedure.

Healing is quick with most patients experience an average of 5 to7 days healing downtime. Redness may last from 2 to 4 weeks on average. Varying levels of pinkness may last longer and can be easily covered with mineral makeup.
The most common side effect are hyper or hypo pigmentation which are more common in patients with darker skin types such Mediterranean, Asian and South American ancestry. This will be discussed at your time of consultation and if needed Dr. Roham will prescribe a treatment with melanin suppressors. Be sure to discuss with Dr. Roham any recent dermal filler treatments prior to your CO2 treatment. We prefer our patients wait 1-2 weeks between laser treatments and fillers.
