Non-Invasive Dermal Fillers:
Restylane, Juvederm, Hyaluronic Acid, Perlane Radiance, Sculptura Collegen, Lip Enhancement, Laugh Lines, Fat Injection
Restylane and Juvederm, provide dramatic results by improving the appearance of facial lines, wrinkles, and folds. It can restore volume and fullness to the skin, plump up lips, and fill in scars. The results are immediate, producing a more youthful and invigorated look.
What is a Restylane and Juvederm filler made of?
They are both Hyaluronic acids which are naturally present in the skin and maintains
the hydration of tissues, becoming absorbed slowly over time. It is of non-animal origin
and unlike collagen, it does not require any allergy test.
How long does it last?
The effects of Hyaluronic acid typically last 6-9 months for Restylane and 12-14 months
for Juvederm. This effect varies depending on the types of skin, areas, amounts injected
and the injection technique. The average life of Hyaluronic acid in the lips is 6 months
because of the rich blood supply of the lips.
Who can get this treatment?
Hyaluronic acid is suitable for patients of all ages. It is also an ideal implant to
prevent the development of wrinkles in fragile areas in young people and to smooth
imperfections.
How is it done?
The filler is injected during a session lasting a few minutes. We offer local
anesthesia to make the correction more comfortable, by applying an anesthetic cream or
by local superficial anesthesia.
Post-Injection Recommendations:
In the hours following the injection we recommend that you avoid excessive facial
expressions. Make up and usual care may be used on the day after treatment.
Can there be side effects?
Inflammatory reactions (redness, and swelling) which may be associated with stinging
or pain on pressure may occur after the injection. These reactions may last for a week.
Swelling or nodules may develop at the injection site. Very rare cases of discolouration
(reversible) of the injection area have been reported. Rare cases of necrosis (severe
tissue damage) affecting the glabellar region, infection, long lasting inflammation and
allergy have been described in the literature after injections of hyaluronic acid.
Persistence of such reactions for more than a week or any other secondary effect, which
develops must be reported to our office as soon as possible.
Who should not have fillers injected? Women who are pregnant or breast feeding. Areas with inflammatory and/or infectious skin problems (acne etc.)
Do not forget to tell your practitioner about your past medical history, such as:
- tendency to develop hypertrophic scarring
- autoimmune diseases (e.g. lupus)
- allergy to Hyaluronic acid.
